A highly attractive canyon that forms a physical barrier between the Grado and Mediano reservoirs.
6 km – 2:30 hours
Easy
The trail is easy, but it has a very exposed section not suitable for people with vertigo. It is secured with steps and chains.
Little elevation gain. Practically flat.
The path starts in Ligüerre de Cinca, without entering the village; follow the road through the La Fueva valley and just after crossing the bridge over the El Grado reservoir (Cinca River), you should park the car and follow the GR1A markers. Along the route, there are several explanatory panels.
We walk along a narrow trail that takes us into the gorge, on the left bank of the Cinca River. Directly opposite, high above, is the religious-military defensive complex of San Emeterio and San Celedonio.
The most interesting point is the so-called "paso de la media caña" (half-barrel passage), where, to cross the impressive cliffs, the path has been carved into the rock. It is important to be very cautious in this section.
At the end of the canyon, we reach the dam of the Mediano reservoir. You can climb up to the power plant and return the same way.
It is also possible to use two vehicles, leaving one at the Mediano Power Plant to avoid the return walk.
